Saelwood LLC, started in 2014, is owned and operated by Mark Saelens and Claire Wood. Together they have over 50 years of experience in the Natural Resources fields.

Mark is a native Oregonian and a long-time advocate for our forests, mountains and ocean environments.   He is a career scientist and currently the manager of the Lincoln County Solid Waste District as well as being the Sustainability Program Manager for the county.  Prior to that he worked for Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife for 28 years.  He also volunteers as a Newport City Councilor, an elected board member at Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District, the  President of Oregon Association of Conservation Districts and the treasurer for MidCoast Watershed Council. He is the board chair for Oregon Coast Community Forest Association.

Claire was most recently the Program Manager for the Siletz Tribal Energy Program (STEP). The goal of the program was to educate tribal and community members about energy efficiency, conservation, renewable energy, recycling, reuse and composting.  She wrote grants to fund the program and to create 3 full time and 2-4 part time jobs for community members. A highlight of the program was the installation of the first solar PV arrays in Siletz. The arrays are on the Tillicum Fitness Center and carport adjacent to the gym.  Prior to leading STEP, she was a data coordinator for the tribe for 5 years.

Claire also worked for Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife for 14 years, Oregon State University for 5 years, and the City of Newport for 7 years. These jobs were mostly in research and data analysis to provide support for Fisheries and other Managers.
